[ARCHIVED] Students Celebrate America Recycles Day at Zoo

ARD- Students

More than 250 students from four area schools traveled to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens to learn more about our environment and simple steps they can take to live more sustainably.  Students from Cincinnati Technology Academy, Covedale Elementary, Margaret B. Rost School, and Rockdale Academy enjoyed a field trip to the zoo where they toured the grounds and attended presentations about a wide range of topics, including:

  • Natural Resources
  • Recycling
  • Composting
  • Sustainable Shopping

Activity stations were located throughout the zoo, providing students the opportunity to visit with the animals while learning how small steps we all can take help protect some of those animals in the wild. America Recycles Day at the Zoo was a joint program that included representatives from:

Schools were invited to this event through their participation in Hamilton County R3Source's Let's Stop Waste at School program. If you would like to learn how you can get involved with this program, please visit our Recycling at School section. There you will see a step-by-step guide on how to set up your waste reduction and recycling program. You will also see an overview of the many different types of school programs, assemblies, and field trips available. Should you have any additional questions, please contact Elise Erhart, Outreach Specialist, at Elise.Erhart@hamilton-co.org or 513-946-7736.
